I am delighted to introduce you to the Medical College for Women & Hospital (MCWH), Uttara, Dhaka, a center of excellence for medical education. It all began, with 4 visionaries, who dreamed of a medical college exclusively for women and established this college in 1992. The college with a 550-bed hospital is run by “The Medical & Health Welfare Trust (MHWT)”, a non-political, non-profitable organization.
We have a full-time dedicated, qualified, and efficient faculty, doctors, and staff who aim to provide quality medical education to students selected according to government procedure. The faculty members follow modern teaching methods, which is reflected in our excellent results. Moreover, our students are involved in social and cultural activities by participating in annual picnics, study tours, Bangla New Year celebrations, post-Eid get-togethers, Award-giving ceremonies for high-achievers, and many more.
This 100% residential college has 3 secure hostels with standard facilities and an in-house gymnasium. There is a huge library with internal facilities open 24/7. We publish a bi-annual, peer-reviewed journal that has been published since 2003, recognized by the BMDC, and registered in the ISSN register. Our Medical Education Unit (MEU) helps the faculty develop in teaching and learning. We have a well-organized Medical Research Unit (MRU) that provides research opportunities for our doctors and students.
This institute is also recognized by the WHO, MCI (Medical Council of India), Medical Board of California, USA, and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and ECFMG (Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) so that our young doctors are eligible to pursue higher education all over the world.
During this Pandemic COVID-19 era, All the faculties, doctors, and staff are dedicated to serving humanity as front liners.
With more than a quarter century of journey behind us, I am confident that the Medical College for Women & Hospital is one of Bangladesh's most renowned private medical colleges. I am also proud to see our students coming from home and abroad, go out as doctors with empathy, to serve humanity worldwide. May Allah bless us all and help us develop this institute to a higher level.
